none of your fucking business

too good not to share: FOX news live, covering Hurricane Katrina:

SHEPARD SMITH: You’re live on FOX News Channel, what are you doing?

MAN: Walking my dogs.

SMITH: Why are you still here? I’m just curious.

MAN: None of your fucking business.

SMITH: Oh that was a good answer, wasn’t it? That was live on international television. Thanks so much for that. You know we apologize.

it wasn't even fox news' fault for the hilarity this time ;)

bureaucratic red tape.

So the last few days trying to get into my job has been dealing with a ton of, as a new coworker of mine defined: "bullshit." I have to get this signed, then send it over to another office for another piece of paper, all so i can go get enrolled and get my name into the system.
Also, as of right now im sitting on a bench in front of what is to be my new apartment. I am patiently waiting for time to tick away to hear back from the leasing office. Apparently the regional office couldn't do anything until my application fee was cleared, and now i'm just waiting for the regional office to get word from the main office to clear me for my lease.
The last time i felt like such a cog in a machine, a single, easily missed blip on the radar screen, was... well... college.
hopefully all this will be sorted out by the end of the week. and thats just a rough estimate.

sigh.

You are slashdot.org You are geeky. You value freedom, but not spelling. People look to you to find out what's going on. You inspire spirited discussions and ad hominem attacks.
Which Website are You?

am i cool now?

Modern, Cool Nerd
69 % Nerd, 60% Geek, 21% Dork
For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.

A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.

A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.

You scored better than half in Nerd and Geek, earning you the title of: Modern, Cool Nerd.

Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent,
knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one you want as your lifeline in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (or the one up there, winning the million bucks)!

Congratulations!

it's "MEEM", not "meh-may"

You scored as Werewolf. You are a werewolf. Normal for most of the month but around the full moon, things tend to get a little... strange.

You are a Fairy. Small and shy you are a friend to animals and nature. It is easy for you to move around without being seen and you take full advantage of this fact.

i mean, c'mon...

More ups and downs than a (edited. cant say that anymore)

So these last few weeks since i moved back home have been the weirdest, stressful, yet chill experience ive had in a while. Ive been doing a ton of driving- lugging Jay to and from house stuff, visiting family, etc. as well as hanging out with various people of the friendly nature (is the moniker "SPOT" still applicable?). I heart sushi. and coffee.
though my largest priority has been getting a job and getting the HELL out of this house; yes, i love my family that much. After spending the last few weeks stressed out over it, i finally landed a teaching job in the city! Whee!!! Now that i've been hired, i just have to complete the hiring process, find an apartment in the city, move there, lesson plan, buy teacher stuff to hang on the walls....
man, i knew there was a catch. damn responsibility.

so what do you call a row of rabbits jumping backwards at the same time?
the inevitable. jay's winning.

tag, you're it.

CAAAKE SHAAAKE

CAKE SHAKE

I remember trying to explain this beast to the Golf Rd. crew in the early/mid 90's, only to encounter odd looks of bewilderment.. until lady luck smiled on us and a Chicago crewmember who was just visiting managed to come our way :) Even though it loses some of its elite, 'in-the-know' cachet, I'm glad to see this concoction hit the main menu.

To quote Friends [sorry for stealing your shtick J]:
Chandler: So, if you had to choose one over the other, would you choose [gestures with hand] Jam, or [gestures with other hand] Women?
Joey: You put those two hands together..!

Yeah, it's like that.. but with cake and a milkshake.. and *almost* as sexy.

Aaaaanyways, good night crew :) Doing nothing and shooting the shit always makes for fun times. I'll try and recreate the black hole as faithfully as I can out in bufu.. besides, there's always thxgvg/winter break, right Lor?

beginning

And away we go!
This should be an interesting experience, as past experiences have demonstrated that we're both somewhat apathetic towards updating. (Hopefully) I'll try not to make this a bitching forum and make some actual blogs.

inaguration

A return to form. We've tried this once before, with less-than-stellar results. Let's see how long the O Bros can keep this joint blog up :)
